We recommend changing your sediment filters every 6 months for average use cases, or when the PSI drop meets or exceeds 7 PSI.
All RainFlo Preferred Big Blue sediment filters feature integrated Buna-N gaskets to prevent contamination of filtered water, and the ends are completely molded into a vinyl plastisol base. The overlap seam is sonically welded to reduce internal bypass improving filtration efficiency.

The RainFlo Preferred 20" x 4.5" Full Flow/Big Blue pleated filters have more than 16 square feet of filtration surface area. The media is pleated to maximize dirt-holding capacity and extend the time period between changes or cleaning. The Premium pleated cellulose cartridges are manufactured from a durable, bacterial resistant, non-woven polyester cellulose that is suitable for a wide range of filtration uses. The filter media is pleated around a polypropylene core for added strength. Embedding and sealing each end of the pleated media in this fashion fuses the three components together forming a unified end cap and gasket.

The RainFlo Preferred 20" x 4.5" Full Flow/Big Blue Preferred Carbon Block filters reduce chlorine, taste, and odors effectively. Superior construction provides cleaner, safer water. Carbon blocks are superior to granular carbon, as it does not develop flow channels for water to pass through. Carbon blocks also maximize depth filtration(the thickness of filter media the water passes through) and adsorption (the surface area the water encounters as it travels through the filter).
